Choosing a vApp Open Method

LeBow vApps, by default, are opened directly in the web browser and require no additional software to run. However, there is an option to download a small Horizon VM Client application which will run the vApp in its own window. The advantage of using the Horizon Client is that files on your local computer are immediately accessible in the vApp with no additional configuration on your part. You may still access local files using the web browser launch method, but you will need to upload the file first before you can begin working with it.

NOTE: If you choose to use the Horizon Client open method, you may be prompted the first time you use it to allow access to your local files. You must allow this access in order to see the files on your local computer through the vApp. If you were not prompted or chose to deny access, follow the directions on the Allowing the Horizon Client to Access Local Files knowledge base article to allow Horizon Client access to your files.

IMPORTANT: Regardless of the method you choose for opening vApps, you MUST launch them from the vLab website. You CANNOT open vApps directly from the Horizon Client.

Changing the vApp Open Method

  1. Select the menu bearing your name in the top right corner.
  2. Select Settings.
  3. Select Preferences from the left menu.
  4. Select the open method that is your preference, Horizon Client or Browser.
  5. If you changed the open method, select Save.
  6. Select <- Back to return to the CATALOG window.
